St. Agatha

Saint of the Day

St. Agatha (3rd century)
Agatha was a beautiful young woman that consecrated her life to God. During a Christian persecution, a powerful man demanded her purity in exchange for not charging her. When she refused, she was beaten, imprisoned, tortured, and eventually killed by being rolled on red-hot coals.

Reflections from the Saints

Jesus Christ, Lord of all things! You see my heart, you know my desires. Possess all that I am – you alone. I am your sheep; make me worthy to overcome the devil.

– St. Agatha
