Of Saint Josephine Bakhita, virgin, who, born in the Darfur region of the Sudan, was seized as a young girl, sold many times by African slave merchants, suffered cruel servitude from which she was at least freed, became a Christian and a religious with the Daughters of Charity in Venice, and passed the rest of her life giving generously to all in the city of Schio near Venice, Italy.
